These Acne Tips Will Leave You With Nothing On Your Face But A Smile!

By Steven Jones

Acne is not the worst thing that can happen to somebody. There are in fact many things much worse than acne that one can suffer from. However some people may feel differently about their acne and want to rid themselves of it. For those people they have found the right article full of helpful tips and ideas.

To help you avoid acne after exercising you should not allow sweat to linger. Allowing sweat to linger will clog your pores and make you more prone to getting acne. So to avoid acne you should use a mild cleanser immediately after exercising in order to wipe away dirt or sweat.

Hydration of the skin is key to keeping it healthy and to help prevent acne. So make sure you drink lots of fluids and if possible splash your face with fresh water a couple times a day to rid it of the excess oil and any dirt that may be sitting right on the surface.

Changing your pillow case regularly, can reduce the amount of acne breakouts that you have. Pillow cases can trap dirt and oil that can clog up your pores, even if they appear to be clean. If you have frequent breakouts, you may want to change your pillow case, every other day.

If you are a woman using the pill Accutane (or any of its generic forms) to treat your acne, make sure that you avoid pregnancy during your treatment period. Make sure you have a second form of protection against pregnancy such as birth control. If you take the pill for acne and get pregnant, your baby has a high risk of being deformed.

If you're fighting acne, check your moisturizers for ingredients that can make acne worse or prolong breakouts. Many rich or heavy moisturizing creams have ingredients that can clog pores, like sodium lauryl sulfate, cetearyl alcohol, cocoa butter or wheat germ oil. Other moisturizers contain ingredients like salicylic acid or retinol that can irritate skin that's trying to heal. Make sure to choose moisturizers that are non-comedogenic (non-clogging), non-acnegenic, and gentle on acne-prone skin.

If you are using a face wash made specifically for acne treatment, think about using Cetaphil instead. Cetaphil is gentle on skin, and that may be the solution you need depending on what is causing your acne. Acne face washes often contain ingredients that dry out your skin and can cause further breakouts in some people.

Getting enough exercise, surprisingly, helps combat acne. Exercise helps all the systems of the body, including the skin. Working up a sweat flushes the pores and helps prevent them from clogging. As long as exercise clothing does not chafe or irritate acne-prone skin, the benefits of exercise far outweigh the negatives.

The best way to prevent acne is to keep your hands off the face. Most people touch their face many times a day, and hands are full of bacteria that gets into pores on the face. Avoid touching the face with hands to keep dirt, oil and bacteria from inflaming facial pores.

Try using witch hazel on your acne. Witch hazel is great at drawing out infection. It works well on acne as well. Just pour a little on a cotton ball and dab any area that is afflicted with acne. Feel free to repeat the process once a day or so.

Sponges and loofahs can harbor bacteria. Toss them out after a few uses, or make sure to wash them or disinfect them. Some sponges can be washed and disinfected in the dish washer. Do not reuse washcloths or use another person's wash cloth. Using a fresh washcloth each time you wash your face is a good rule to follow.

A paste of cinnamon and honey can be beneficial as an acne treatment. Combine ground cinnamon with a dab of honey to form a paste and apply it to the acne. Cinnamon is a natural antiseptic and honey is a natural antibiotic. Together they can relieve and cure a breakout.

If you suffer from unsightly blackheads and large pores, switch from bar soaps to a more gentle, water-soluble liquid cleanser. Many of the fillers used in bar soaps cause skin cells to flake off prematurely; the skin cells then accumulate and clog the pores. Choose a cleanser that does not leave a greasy residue on the skin, as this may make the problem worse.

After years of fighting acne you may finally have found the answer. By incorporating these tips and tricks into your skin care regime, you may be able to reduce the appearance of acne or even eliminate it. So, go ahead and give it a shot. The sooner you begin, the sooner you will enjoy a clear complexion.
