By Vernell Hunter

Your local drugstore has all sorts of over-the-counter solutions on how to clear acne fast. But the fact is many of them have exorbitant price tags. Further, a lot of them rely on harsh chemicals that may in fact irritate the skin, worsening the problem.

Luckily, you don't necessarily have to spend a lot of cash just to see improvements. Many of the things needed to hasten the healing of those breakouts and even prevent more of them from showing may already be found in your kitchen. Because they are all-natural, they won't aggravate the condition unlike products which rely on ingredients that can damage the skin.

Honey is known for its antiseptic properties. When applied on the face, it can fight off bacteria that normally cause infections and inflammations. Further, honey is capable of soothing irritated skin, improving red and swollen problem areas. Simply apply honey on the face. Let it stay there for about 20 minutes. Rinse with water thoroughly afterwards.

Egg white contains protein that can heal the skin. It also soaks up excess oils on your face, preventing them from clogging the pores. Crack open one egg and dispose of the yolk. In a bowl, beat the white part until it's frothy. Apply it on the face and let it dry completely. When the skin already feels taut, you may rinse the egg off with water and pat dry with a towel.

Cooked oatmeal may be also used as a face mask. Do make sure that it has thoroughly cooled before you apply on your face. Oatmeal absorbs excess facial oils. It also offers mild exfoliation of the skin during application due to the texture.

Regular exfoliation is essential because it eliminates dead cells found on the skin's top layer. This prevents the pores from ending up clogged, keeping infections and breakouts at bay. One way to exfoliate is by combining baking soda and a few drops of water. The resulting paste is applied on the face with the fingertips using gentle, circular motions.

Combining olive oil and brown sugar also results in a natural exfoliating solution. However, take note that you shouldn't exfoliate frequently. To prevent skin from ending up scratched and irritated, limit the process to about once a week.

Dabbing lemon or orange juice on those breakouts can dry them up. That's because it has citric acid as well as antioxidants that help soothe and repair damaged skin. It also helps lighten the scars left behind, making for a clearer complexion. Exposing those problem areas to the sun for a maximum of 20 minutes also helps heal breakouts. However, avoid doing so between 10 am and 4 pm. Sunlight contains vitamin D that is highly beneficial for a variety of skin problems.

The list of tips on how to clear acne fast naturally won't be a complete one without mentioning what should go into your mouth. Toxins in the blood should be removed to help ease the problem. It's a good idea to have lots of fruits and vegetables daily. Drinking enough water is highly beneficial. Your everyday diet should also consist of omega-3 fatty acids.
